Has anyone else noticed that the sun now rises around 5 in the morning? And that if you’re actually awake to witness this, you get a whole lot done in one long day? For instance, the custom ordered pillowcase (commissioned to go with the quilt I recently completed):
I keep a calendar of my commissioned work, and I had this one slotted for July 7th, but thanks to Martin’s tendency to rise with the sun and promptly begin to yip (it’s really more like a squeak) I’ve had many more hours of productivity.
I feel like I’ve seen elephants bathe themselves by squirting water from their trunks, but I wonder if they ever really blow bubbles… maybe when they’re swimming? Well, it’s a lovely thought– and a fun quilting motif– regardless.
I also recently completed another little crochet project. I go through spurts of yarn work and I seem to be on a roll these days. It’s just marvelously portable, and easy to do when tired…
Yep, I decided to make a more summery version of that cowl. Whites and brights– you can’t go wrong. All of the colorful yarns were from my scrap basket, but I splurged on a new skein of white.
I’ve already whipped it out a couple times. It’s been wonderfully sunny and cool in Boston– as luck would have it, perfect cowl weather. It kind of reminds me of a roll of Lifesavers.
So keeping schedule with the sunrise certainly has it perks, and I’m enjoying my longer days– but I wouldn’t say I’m a total convert. A girl still needs to sleep in every now and then. In which case Martin gets relocated to the bed and we both get some much needed extra hours of snoozing.
That would the face of a contented little puppy who just got his way.
