What started as being-a-good-wife behavior has become an addiction. Turns out, I love watching basketball games. I mean, I always enjoyed going to the live games, but I’ve even gotten hooked on the ESPN version. You see, basketball games are basically really good reality TV– with true athleticism instead of total trash. (But they’re also a little more stressful– no one really wins on the Real Housewives of OC.) Still, I’m not one to sit still for 3 hours so over the course of the Heat-Celtics Playoffs (which, grrrr, aren’t over yet), I made this stripey crochet cowl.
I was inspired by this lovely cowl on Yvestown. I loved the muted yet cheery palette she used, but wanted to rely only on my stash (“want” might be a misleading term… more like “can’t afford” to buy more yarn right now).
I love the nice big size– it’s like a shawl/scarf hybrid, and while it will be wonderful in the cold winter weather, I even wore it today with a tank top. It offers just the right amount of warmth to fend off a cool breeze.
There are no words to describe his cuteness. And no photos either, really. Taking a good picture of an all-black puppy that’s about 2/3 the size of my foot and full of beans is really difficult (he’s a teacup poodle so he’s going to be tiny full grown, and therefore at 8 weeks is as itty bitty as they come). He just looks like a little black dust bunny… so you’ll just have to take my word for it. I’m sort of overwhelmed with puppy love right now. Let’s just say I don’t expect to be spending any time in the sewing room this weekend.
