Focus

by Pippa Patchwork - February 8, 2012 — No Comments ↓

I have to remind myself every now and then that when it comes to color, a little limitation can be a good thing.

I’m often tempted to just throw in every color available in my stash– I love them all, after all. But sometimes a little focus on a particular range of hues can be just as– if not more– powerful.

After making several detailed baby quilts, I was craving the satisfaction of a big old bed quilt and basic geometric shapes– and I decided to narrow my fabrics to shades of blue/grey and red/orange/brown.

Some simple stippling stitches.

I used leftover strips for the binding so it’s multi-color and and wider than usual in the back. Kind of a cool look in the end.

Gosh I love this type of minimalist, clean, contemporary quilt… Sometimes it just hits the spot.
