Apparently orange is this season’s hottest hue, or hadn’t you heard? To be honest, I was only vaguely aware of this until my far more style savvy friend and Buzzfeed leader Amy Odell confirmed it. Which is why our latest edition of Craft Wars features a battle over this citrusy hue– LOVE the projects these ladies came up with! Be sure to check them out and vote for your fave.
Orange also just so happens to be one of my favorite colors so I decided to feature it in my latest little quilt. Still not sure how to define these minis – they’re table toppers, wall decor, whatever you want them to be…
Some curly cue quilting, naturally, and a touch of stippling.
I hesitated to go for the matching binding at first, but hey you can never have too much orange. I like the clean cohesiveness it created in the end– and it’s now for sale in my Etsy store.
Meanwhile, I’ve been sewing away on larger commission pieces– a wedding quilt that I’m pretty psyched about, and another “In Bloom” quilt from my Kelle Hampton series. But mid-free motioning this afternoon, my bobbin case mysteriously pooped out. It just won’t tighten for some inexplicable reason. If I seem calm, that would be the power of the Internet my friends. I freaked out for about an hour, screwed the heck out of that little case, and quickly tracked down the nearest Bernina dealer where I can purchase a new case (they’re not cheap in case you were wondering). I’ll be there when they open tomorrow morning.
