Midway through a shared bottle of sparkling shiraz last night, a good friend asked if I’m still blogging… Of course! But it’s true, I’ve been slacking a bit… so I figured I’d squeeze in one last post before the full onset of holiday madness. In fact, in about an hour s I’m heading over to the Charles Hotel in Cambridge, where I’ll be spending the night with my two sisters before the older of the two gets married tomorrow. So yeah, it’s been quite the Christmas season. Aside from all the celebration, the other reason I’ve been a little MIA is that all of my sewing has been holiday and commission related– and I figured I’d better not post any of it in case the future recipient stumbled upon my little sliver of the Internet (unlikely, but possible).
In other words, all I have to share at the moment is a little side project that I’ve been working on since, oh, August or so.
Crochet granny squares are the ultimate portable project. Not to mention, they’re quintessential patchwork.
At this crazy time of year, this type of on-the-go work is pretty much all I can manage. Furthermore, my husband and I leave for a 2-week trip to South America a couple days after Christmas so I imagine this will be my primary project for quite some time (of course, I’m also bringing along some hand stitching but I’ll unveil that when I return).
I love the Kaleidoscope-like effect of all the colors–randomly selected, of course. I have another full ball of yarn in each color and I’m in no rush to finish so who knows how big this baby will end up being…
And on that note, I’m signing off until January. Have a wonderful Holiday Season everyone– relax, enjoy the celebratory time with family and friends, and I’ll meet you back here– refreshed and raring to stitch– in the New Year
