I just got back from three days, miles of walking, hours of talking, and who knows how many bottles of wine in Chicago. My sisters, dad, and I decided to take my mom there for her birthday and soak in some much-needed family time.
That would be the five of us reflected in the giant bean sculpture in Millennium Park. This little mini-vacation flew by but was exactly what I needed– there’s nothing like an Eccles family let loose in a new city. Let’s just say we really know how to relax and enjoy ourselves.
Of course, true to form, I still managed to squeeze in a rather impressive amount of applique, mostly in the airplane and at leisurely lunches that lasted well into the afternoon. I finished up the quilting last night and voila.
You may recognize those multi-layered bubble look from my champagne quilt. I love the effect of combining reverse and regular applique.
And of course, some swirly whirly quilting.
This is the first circular quilt that I’ve made and I’m loving the effect, the way it mirrors the interior motifs. Makes you wonder what other quilt shape possibilities are out there…
