As promised and planned, I stitched up a little yellow polka dot table quilt last week.

It’s basically a mini version of this baby quilt I made a few months ago.
As I mentioned, my sewing room becomes a bit of a sauna during the super-hot summer days, so a little hand-stitching project that I can tackle in our air-conditioned living room is a must.
Martin also appreciates a project I can work on while sitting on the sofa, so he can cuddle up next to me and nap. Napping on my foot while I pedal the Bernina doesn’t work quite as well (did you really think I was going to get through a whole post without mentioning the puppy?!)

I obviously love experimenting with new designs, but it’s nice to have your go-to favorites. A little regular applique, a little reverse, curly-cue free-motion quilting…

That being said, I was struck by some unusual inspiration yesterday, took a trip to my favorite discount fabric store, and I’ve begun work on something that’s pretty different for me. So stay tuned folks– my next quilt involves neither patchwork nor applique…
