Anyone else love Dexter?
Kyle and I are big fans, and the fact that this show inspired my most recent quilt design is proof that inspiration really is lurking (quite literally) everywhere. In the last episode, Dexter reads The Three Little Pigs as a bedtime story to his son. As soon as he opened the book, Kyle goes: “Quick, what are the three houses made out of?” My guesses: hay, wood, bricks– which is 2/3 wrong since apparently straw is not the same as hay, and sticks are not the same as wood.
At this point in the episode, I probably should have been pondering the not-so-subtle metaphorical implications of a serial killer reading the story about a big bad wolf to his two-year-old, but my mind immediately wandered.
Bricks. Such a good pattern.
So thank you, Dexter. Not only do you keep those serial killers off the streets (in your own disturbing way), but apparently you possess some patchwork potential. Come to think of it, those blood splatter patterns have a rather unique aesthetic…
